Season Six is fast upon us! I'm getting excited too. Last year, the Season Five cast went up the weekend of November 16 - 18; I plan to make my cast preview-and-predictions post the first week of December. (I know that other blogs will have their cast previews posted about forty-five minutes after the final cast member is announced. I'm not mad at it--mine is a more-ambitious project.)
In the meantime, sorry-not-sorry this space has (temporarily) morphed from a blog about RuPaul's Drag Race to a scrapbook of The Other Show. I've just finished my newest video project! The Other Show had its first birthday this week, and in celebration, I made this supercut. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out; you all know I love a good Drag Queen Video Project, and the queens of The Other Show are pitch-perfect subjects for GIFs and quick-cut videos like this.
To borrow a line from Mama Ru: nobody rocks like the girls I'm runnin' with.
I just got home from their one-year anniversary show, which was a total blast. It doubled as a Halloween show, with the audience invited to attend in costume, and The Dilettwat ran around in the illusion of Lady Bunnicula.

Get this: in two weeks, Manila Luzon is coming to The Other Show! If you read my blog and you're anywhere near Atlanta, I expect to see you there.
Oh, did I ever show you all my photo with Alaska?
Alaska was an excellent guest performer and a total sweetie to me; my goofed-out grin is the face of a person who's just been told that Alaska likes her blog. :-D As to the horns and fuzzy tummy, there's an explanation for that too.
I'm tremendously glad that the RuPaul's Drag Race off-season has afforded me the time to get to know my local scene, and I won't be abandoning my queens once the teevee ones come back in January, but I miss the rhythm of recapping. (I considered recapping this season of Project Runway All-Stars, just to get warmed back up, and I actually wrote the first couple episodes' recaps. However, I'm having a hard time finding good-quality video to GIF, and anyway, I'm pretty sure that I'm the only person in America watching Project Runway All-Stars this season. For what it's worth, Elena and Christopher are absolutely my favorites, and doesn't Elena sometimes look like Alyssa Edwards and Aubrey Plaza had a baby? Anyway.)
I also considered recapping the Atlanta weekly-elimination drag competition running right now, Dragnificent, which I've been attending each week and really enjoying. (Shout-out to my gorls River Song-Redd, Kryean Kally, and Marcella Grrleen Redd!) I know I have a not-small number of readers who love RuPaul's Drag Race but have never been to a live drag show; if you're in a metropolitan area, your local drag scene probably does competitions like this, and they're a great way to acquaint yourself with a cross-section of the up-and-coming queens in your city.
So, all this has been my autumn, and I've been absolutely getting my life with these Atlanta queens. I know that November's going to be busy for me, but the rest of 2013 will fly by, and we'll be back with Season Six before you know it!
PS: time for a #FlappyDanceParty.
You're welcome.
